Wells gardner arcade monitor manual

It's little pea brain if you will Member Offline Posts: 4 Last login:March 12, , pm. However, it may not be necessary to replace with a programmed EEPROM maybe a completely blank one will load default settings?

I usually install a socket as well. I have had good results replacing these with non-generic chips, which has severely reduced instances of EEPROM corruption. Anyway, I just want to echo the original theme that the WG D monitors are pretty crappy in terms of reliability and too damn complex in terms of parts. The most recent monitors the company I work for purchased were Makvision While these seem to be nice we'll see how these hold up in the long term.

I was rather disappointed that there was no schematic in the box tho manual yes, but it didn't have a schematic. It was pulled from a Neo Geo. This would be my first arcade monitor purchase and I don't want to buy something that's no good. Is this a good monitor to use with the arcadeVGA? Quote from: Ken Layton on March 20, , pm. It means yes. The and are digital models. How do you know it wasn't fixed after the was decommissioned? Quote from: damdai on March 17, , pm. Need a monitor "cap kit"? Click Here! Well, of course I'm bias because I am a wholesale distributor but the reason I chose to sell Nieman Video displays is because I think they are the most reliable. I was an only Wells guy till they outsourced their production.

Rick Nieman was an engineer on the Electrohome team. Just an FYI I spoke to Loran at Wells Gardner and she said yes, they had some problems with their chassis but according to her they resolved the issue. As far as us private consumers go, I asked about any warranties they have.

That's not entirely true Not really anything uncommon and I had the same scenario with my Sharp projector. The one big difference is I am sure my projector was much cheaper to ship than this guy will be! Still though, it does have a warranty. For the first 90 days if anything happens they will do a complete replacement. It was unclear whether they would ship the new monitor with return shipping for the broken one or if you have to send it to them like stated above.

I can call back to clarify that though. I'm not trying to debunk anything here, just pass on some information I got when I spoke to them.

It seemed odd that a company that's been around and long as Well Gardner wouldn't resolve what sounded like a major issue some people were having. Again, according to the company they have resolved the production issues that the earlier models were having. A one year warranty seems fair to me as well. This affected Mame games that run at certain resolutions also and runnig Windows at x or x x worked fine.

On the Ultimarc message board, someone mentioned that they had fixed this same problem. Note: this also affected certain games when I was running my monitor with the Trident Blade T64 card with AdvanceMame. I pulled out the fuse and took a look at it. The fuse in my monitor is "2A VAC".

The monitor's circuit board where the fuse plugs in has "2A VAC" printed on it. There are little icons on the fuse for "SB" and "UL". I think that the "SB" stands for Slow Blow. Andy Warne at Ultimarc has been running some tests with the Act Labs gun and arcade monitors. He discovered that if you use an arcade monitor and you splice the hsync and vsync wires together in your VGA cable hack, then the light gun won't work.

I added a wire to my monitor's output cable for the vsync, and wired it correctly to the video card, and now I'm playing gun games on my cabinet. By the way, according to Andy, this fact is true no matter what kind of video card you are using.

Here are some useful links:. Skip to content I'm putting this page up because I had a few small problems while using my Wells Gardner WGk arcade monitor in my Mame cabinet. FUSE: I pulled out the fuse and took a look at it. Click the thumbnails for full-size pictures.

Here's a picture of the diagram that is printed on the back of my k monitor. The schematics diagram for the Wells-Gardner Model 25K I've seen one other pic on the internet that looks identical to this one. The green poly cap and resistors are similar to Chassis A. I'll post the values at some point.

Jamesv Well-known member. The satellite board on Chassis B looks identical. I trying to figure out some popping coming from my chassis. Sounds like flyback arching but actually going through the screw holding the chassis to the frame. I have a ground wire that coming from the thin wire around the tube that is loose. Not sure where it goes. It has the degause wire also. Neither of your chassis pics have this white thing off to the left side that takes the feed from the flyback into the neck board socket?

I have another medium res chassis that has this also. Click to expand I do this even if the wire isn't fraying, but often you will find frays in the exposed wire that isn't soldered.

TSB Well-known member. I had arcing going through the bleeder resistor similar to yours in my K , a new flyback no bleeder fixed it.

TSB said:. Will you take some closeup pics of your yoke while you're at it? I'm looking for one just like yours! Any markings, and an ohm reading of the windings would be amazing. No real markings to be found, eh? Thanks for looking! Did you take an ohm reading on it? Is the bleeder box needed? That box would have been added by someone after the fact. They are not specific to the K medium resolution monitor.

My understanding is that they were used to offset symptoms of a failing tube or flyback but I could be wrong about that. I have come across one before I think on a U , and I removed it when I replaced the flyback and had a great picture without it. Thanks, going to swap out the flyback and do a cap kit while I'm at.
